Portogruaro (Ve)

From 16th July to 13th September, the 42nd edition of the International Music Festival will be held in Portogruaro (Ve), which for 2024 will have the title “Impronte. Memorie Sonore” (=Imprints. Sound Memories), because memory feeds on the sensitive observation of traces left by previous experiences. In the same way, the musical journey that has been unfolding in Portogruaro for over 40 years lives on a very particular path of memory, marked by the imprints of authors, performers and creations. These signs and these musical imprints translate into memory and trigger a spiritual journey that goes from the body to the soul. But memory is not an end in itself, because it also serves as a stimulus for new research and helps us reflect on the future of music.

Very reach will be the billboard of a Festival that for over forty years has enriched the summer with concerts, established artists and young people who have grown professionally, in the usual combination of concert activities and training opportunities, will be very rich. Even in 2024 some of the great names of today’s concerts will enliven the whole territory of Eastern Veneto. There are also many previews of “Aspettando il Festival” (=waiting for the festival), with performances that starting from 16th July will touch the most evocative places of Portogruaro and beyond, and the usual “Dopo il Festival” (=After the Festival) with 5 evenings between September and October.

Among the new features of this edition are the Workshop for young conductors dedicated to Beethoven’s Symphonies, a special tribute to the Collegio Marconi, with its over 300 years of cultural presence in the area, which will also include the centenary of the University of Trieste, and the commission of a new work by the Italian composer Nicola Campogrande.

The artistic direction has been entrusted also this year to Alessandro Taverna, an internationally renowned pianist and a figure of undoubted cultural depth.

The places appointed for the concerts will be the “Luigi Russolo” Municipal Theatre but also churches, squares, palaces and villas of the nearby municipalities:
